RIDGEFIELD — Clark County will begin maintaining a 150-acre conservation area near the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge under an agreement announced this week.
The property, valued at $2.1 million, sits primarily along Flume Creek south of Ridgefield. The county secured the property using its Conservation Futures fund and a state grant. Vancouver-based Columbia Land Trust also provided technical expertise on the project, according to the county.
The land provides habitat for more than 30 species native to Clark County, according to the county. It includes mature forest, shorelines, riparian habitat, wetlands and other features, officials said.
The acquisition was approved by Clark County councilors last month.
