A Vancouver man suspected of driving under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana was arrested after a pursuit in Oregon ended in a crash.

Jonathan Oson, 33, was behind the wheel of a blue Dodge Neon that was reportedly speeding and passing other cars on the shoulder of Interstate 5 southbound at about 11 a.m. Thursday, according to Oregon State Police.

A trooper intercepted the vehicle near the Donald/Aurora interchange and he attempted to stop the vehicle, according to state police.

The Neon’s driver failed to yield and troopers began to pursue, police said.

However near Woodburn, Oson lost control of the vehicle and struck another southbound vehicle as it was entering a highway work zone, police said.

The Dodge Neon struck a work zone warning sign and crashed into roadside shrubbery. After a short confrontation, police said, the driver was taken into custody and lodged in the Marion County Jail.

Orson was arrested on suspicion of felony criminal mischief, attempting to elude in a vehicle, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Oregon police said that Oson admitted to troopers he had smoked methamphetamine and marijuana before driving.
