Four boys and two 18-year-old men were arrested Wednesday for allegedly smoking marijuana near Battle Ground High School.

The police department has gotten multiple complaints about a group that smokes marijuana on Northeast First Street, which is adjacent to the campus, before and after school and during lunchtime, the Battle Ground Police Department said.

“This type of public activity diminishes the quality of life of our community,” Chief Bob Richardson said. “We want our youth to understand that the life choices they make today may impact their health and produce adverse long-term consequences.”

The group was arrested around noon on Wednesday after police observed them smoking in the street.

The adults, Jeffrey Finley and Colton Von Kaenel, are being referred to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The four boys, whose names were not released, will be referred to the Clark County Juvenile Court.
