VA event in Portland includes claims clinic

PORTLAND — The VA Portland Health Care System and Portland VA Regional Office will host a town hall and claims clinic at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Portland.

The event will be in the main campus auditorium of the VA Portland Health Care System, 3710 S.W. U.S. Veterans Hospital Road, Portland.

During the claims clinic, veterans will be able to file a claim for compensation, submit evidence, and speak to a claims processor. Although members of the media are invited to attend the town hall, they will not be allowed in the claims clinic to ensure patient confidentiality.

According to a news release, the Department of Veterans Affairs is expanding its town halls to include claims clinics where veterans get a first-hand view of the claims process and speak directly with claims processors.

The VA will continue to hold town hall meetings in combination with the claims clinic to gather feedback directly from veterans so the VA can improve service, the release said.

The event is open to the public; the VA also is inviting community partners, including representatives from veterans service organizations and congressional offices.
