Recreational fires such as bonfires are being temporarily banned in the cities of Camas and Washougal due to extreme fire danger.

Fire Chief Nick Swinhart announced the ban Friday morning due to extreme fire conditions as the hot, dry summer continues.

The ban will be in effect until further notice, according to a fire department news release.

Charcoal or gas grills are not included in the ban, as long as they are used in a safe manner.
