Battle Ground School Readiness Day sign-up ends Aug. 12

BATTLE GROUND — North County students can receive free immunizations, backpacks filled with school supplies and more at North County School Readiness Day on Aug. 21. Students must register by Aug. 12 to participate in the program that distributes school supplies to students who qualify for free or reduced lunch in the Battle Ground, Hockinson, Woodland and Green Mountain school districts.

Students and families can register Monday through Friday at North County Community Food Bank at 360-687-5007 or Tuesdays or Thursdays at Adventist Community Services, 360-687-3459.

North County School Readiness Day is from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 21 in the Battle Ground High School cafeteria, 300 W. Main St.

Also at School Readiness Day, Sea Mar Community Health Center will provide free immunizations to children ages 2 months through 18 years by appointment. To preregister for immunizations, call 360-566-4409. A registered nurse will be available to answer questions.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 15, people can donate new school supplies at a Stuff the Bus school supply drive in the parking lots of Albertson’s, Fred Meyer, Safeway and Wal-Mart in Battle Ground.
