Clark County — Retirement couldn’t keep former Clark County transportation programming manager Bill Wright away from county government for long.

Wright, a licensed civil engineer who retired this year from Clark County, is the Clark County Planning Commission’s newest member after the county councilors appointed him to a vacant seat early last week, according to a news release. Wright, a Salmon Creek resident, will serve on the board through 2018. In addition to his time at the county, he is a founding member of the Washington State Public Works Board and has a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Washington State University.

The planning commission is a seven-member volunteer board that makes recommendations to the Clark County council on land-use planning, zoning and development in rural and urban areas outside of city limits.
