The body of a fisherman thought to have drowned was discovered at the southeast end of Lacamas Lake Monday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Camas Police Department, David J. Gleghorn was recovered by the Camas-Washougal Fire Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit.

Gleghorn, 68, left his Vancouver home to go fishing Wednesday morning. His family reported him missing at 10:30 p.m.

Soon after, Camas police discovered Gleghorn’s vehicle at the public boat launch on Northwest Leadbetter Road. Law enforcement, including marine units from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, began searching Lacamas Lake Wednesday night.

On Thursday morning, the Portland Police Bureau’s Air Support Unit joined the search, and located his boat in an inlet at the south end of the lake. But there was still no sign of Gleghorn.

“All of the information we have gathered up to this point suggests that this is likely a case of accidental drowning,” said Camas Police Department Sgt. David Chaney Friday evening. An autopsy will be performed by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine a cause of death.
