New festival brings beer oddities to Washougal

Washougal — Fans of candy-, insect- and seafood-flavored beer were in for quite a treat on July 10 and 11, as CDM Caregiving Services hosted the Weird Beer on the River fundraiser. An estimated 1,400 people attended the first-year event at Marina Park in Washougal to try the oddest concoctions brought to the table by 24 brewers. There were also three bands providing live music throughout the weekend event, which organizers hope to turn into a yearly fundraiser. CDM Caregiving Services is an in-home care agency for the elderly, disabled and those with dementia and traumatic brain injury.
