Paving work will cause overnight closures of state Highway 14 in the Columbia River Gorge next week, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
For two nights, crews will close both directions of the highway between mileposts 57 and 61, west of White Salmon, according to WSDOT. The closures will last from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31.
During the closures, workers will grind and pave the roadway inside five highway tunnels, according to WSDOT.
Drivers can detour to Interstate 84 in Oregon, crossing on the Bridge of the Gods and the Hood River Bridge. WSDOT says it will pay the tolls on both spans during the closures.
The work is part of a larger $5.2 million effort to resurface some 40 miles of Highway 14 in the Columbia River Gorge.
