Three men who allegedly attacked a family with baseball bats Monday night made first appearances in Clark County Superior Court on Tuesday.

Tristan L. Robinson, 21, of Camas; Nathaniel S. Sylvester, 19, a transient; and William S. Tillmon, 20, of Vancouver appeared on suspicion of criminal mischief with a deadly weapon.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a family was walking on Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard near 117th Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m. when a gold-colored car drove slowly past them. One of the alleged victims said the family had stopped at a fountain on the north side of Mill Plain and were taking photos. The car pulled into a nearby parking lot and three men got out, armed with baseball bats. He said the men charged at him and his family. He said he put up his arm to protect another person and was struck once on the wrist. The men then got back into the car and drove off.

Another alleged victim said he recognized one of the men in the group as Tillmon because Tillmon apparently had problems with his older brother. A third witness said a female was with the suspects but stayed near the car and didn’t have a baseball bat.

Vancouver police responded to the disturbance and saw a vehicle fleeing the scene. Police stopped the vehicle and detained the occupants. One of the alleged victims subsequently identified the men as the attackers.

During their hearings, Judge David Gregerson appointed each man an attorney.

Robinson and Tillmon are being held at the Clark County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail. Sylvester is being held on $40,000 bail.

They are all due back in court July 31 for arraignment.
