Taxpayers for a Responsible Public Port, a political action committee calling for greater transparency at the Port of Vancouver, has announced that it prefers candidates Eric LaBrant and Nick Ande in the District 2 race for port commissioner.

“Both Eric and Nick support the important role the port plays in jobs and economic development,” according to a press release issued by the Taxpayers group. “But there are the right kind of jobs and businesses and there are the wrong kind of jobs and businesses.”

The oil terminal proposed at the port “is the wrong kind of business,” the group said, noting that LaBrant and Ande both oppose the project.
