A Portland man who allegedly attacked another man with a log made a first appearance Tuesday in Clark County Superior Court.
David A. Kesler, 51, was arrested Monday on suspicion of first-degree assault, stemming from the alleged altercation at a Vancouver home.
Judge Gregory Gonzales set Kesler’s bail at $45,000.
The alleged victim, Michael Deschner, told police that Kesler tried to strike him in the head with a log at a residence at 7505 N.E. 53rd Ave. He said he put his arm up to block the blow and Kesler struck his arm, breaking it. A doctor confirmed the break was consistent with Deschner’s story, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court.
Deschner said the blow would have crushed his head if he hadn’t blocked it, the affidavit says.
