First-ever Heroes’ Challenge collects money for veterans

Washougal — The Heroes’ Challenge and Old Fashioned Fourth of July Parade and Barbecue raised $800 for Point Man Ministries of Clark Proceeds go to services for veterans and active military and their families. Organizers of the Heroes’ Challenge hoped to get five competitors for the inaugural event. They had 30 competitors participate in one of three events: a 24-mile bike/run, a 13K run/bike and 5.79K fun run/walk. The parade saw 200-300 guests enjoy food, games, a dunk tank and watermelon-eating contest.
