Two men who burglarized a Vancouver Walgreens in May were sentenced in Clark County Superior Court on Thursday.
Robert R. Cramer, 23, of Fairview, Ore., and Jeffrey A. Fuller, 38, a transient, were scheduled to begin trial next week but opted to change their pleas instead. Cramer entered guilty pleas to possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, first-degree malicious mischief and two counts of second-degree burglary. Fuller pleaded guilty to the same charges except one count of second-degree burglary.
A third person accused in the burglary, Rachel D. Proper, 42, of Clatskanie, Ore., also was scheduled to begin trial next week. Her trial was pushed back, however.
All three were arrested May 10 following a burglary at the Walgreens pharmacy at 8511 N.E. 162nd Ave., near the east end of Padden Parkway.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court, store security reported that two males, later identified as Cramer and Fuller, were inside and had stolen prescription medications and fled the store before deputies arrived about 3:10 a.m.
The men allegedly took a package with a GPS tracker in it. Deputies followed the signal to Northeast 99th Street, where they observed a suspicious-looking vehicle and located a bag with a large amount of prescription drugs in it nearby. Deputies then stopped the vehicle and questioned the three people inside, identified as Proper, Fuller and Cramer, court records said.
Investigators said the burglary was one of 16 committed at Walgreens pharmacies within the last year, and were investigating whether the suspects could also be connected to those otherincidents.
As part of his deal with the prosecution, Fuller cannot be charged with any other crimes stemming from the previous Walgreens burglaries in Clark County.
Judge Robert Lewis agreed to follow the attorneys’ sentencing agreement of 40 months in prison and a year of community custody. Fuller was given credit for 60 days in custody.
Cramer was sentenced to two years in prison and a year of community custody. He also was given credit for 60 days in custody.
The men will have to pay restitution to the store, though an amount has yet to be determined. Walgreens had estimated the total damage to the store exceeded $5,300. Additionally, the value of the prescription medications that were stolen was about $15,978, according to the affidavit.
