RANDLE, Wash. — Volunteers are needed to do maintenance July 25 and 26 on Klickitat trail No. 7, a historic native American route on the north end of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Organized by the Washington Trails Association, the work will clear brush and, in places, dig the trail to standard width. The work site is about 1.5 miles from the road, although the elevation change is minimal.

Camping on July 25 is planned on a flat near Jackpot Lake. There are no bathrooms, fire rings or potable water, but water can be filtered from the lake, a few hundred yards away.

WTA will provide the main dish for dinner, but volunteers should bring a side dish to share.

No experience is necessary and WTA provides the tools and instructions. For two days of service, volunteers will earn an annual Northwest Forest Pass, which sells for $30.

Klickitat trail is a ridgetop route extending from Kilborn Creek to Elk Peak.
