A Vancouver man was identified as the person who died in a fatal crash Sunday morning in Skamania County.

Lawrence Nett, 59, was the driver in the single-vehicle crash, which was reported at about 8:40 a.m. Sunday on Wind River Road north of Carson, according to the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said that it appears the two-door sedan was traveling north on the road when it left the roadway and crashed into two large trees. The vehicle became engulfed in flames, but the fire was put out by nearby campers prior to the fire fighters’ arrival, according to Skamania County Emergency Medical Services.

Nett died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what caused the crash.
