Camas — Reesab Pathak, a senior in Camas High School’s magnet program, was one of 40 high school students recently named as a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search 2015.
Next up, Pathak will head to Washington, D.C., on an all-expenses paid trip to compete for more than $1 million in awards, including $150,000 to each of the top three competitors. His trip will also include a visit to the White House to meet with President Barack Obama.
Pathak spent the last year and a half interning at Oregon Health & Science University, where he was part of a research team working to better understand HIV. He was a co-author of a study published in December’s Journal of Immunology, which helped secure his spot as a finalist.
Originally, more than 1,800 students entered the competition, and 300 were named semifinalists.
