Local charity Gifts For Our Community is accepting applications from local nonprofit organizations that work in education, human services and the arts.
Seven grants will be awarded — one for $5,000 and six for $2,500 apiece. Gifts For Our Community is a homegrown nonprofit that works with revenues from the network of upscale “Divine” secondhand shops, including downtown furniture store Divine Consign and Hazel Dell clothes boutique b.Divine.
Applications can be picked up at either of those stores, which are at 904 Main St. and 1218 N.E. 88th St., respectively, or visit divineconsignfurniture.org. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 27. Recipients will be announced on March 15.

Disqualified from these grants are organizations that promote a religious or political ideology, fundraisers including dinner galas and advertisements, and “intermediary” funding agencies.
