East Vancouver — Four seniors studying German at Evergreen High School were recently invited to visit the University of Oregon’s White Rose exhibit, which honors a student-formed group who spoke out against the Nazis.

The White Rose resistance was started in June 1942 by students at the University of Munich, and distributed leaflets calling for opposition to Adolf Hitler’s rule, according to the exhibit’s website.

The students from Evergreen saw the exhibit, and were given a tour of Oregon’s campus by the German department. They also attended a roundtable discussion on the mentality of those in the Third Reich, and how much they all knew about the Holocaust.
