• American Cancer Society seeks people to help with receiving, sorting, pressing and pricing thrift store donations, and cashiers to assist with sales.

• American Red Cross of Southwest Washington is looking for blood drive ambassadors, canteen assistants and couriers.

• CDM Services is looking for a musician to play music, 1 to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, to clients, many of whom are elderly with disabilities.

• Humane Society for Southwest Washington seeks volunteer help at its ReTails Thrift Store with books, electronics and tools, boutique and home decor, and receiving donations.

• Impact NW Kids on the Block is looking for volunteers to present educational programs to school and community groups, working in teams of two. Topics include drug abuse prevention, healthful eating and personal safety. Training and materials are provided.

• PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center seeks volunteers in the emergency department, the Family Birth Center, gift shop, pharmacy, infusion, inpatient surgery, ICU and CVICU, nursing units and physical therapy.

Volunteers are sought for tree plantings at Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge River S Unit from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 14, 19 and 28. Volunteers are encouraged to wear waterproof footwear, bring gloves and dress for the weather. Hot drinks and snacks will be provided. Registration is encouraged but not required. Volunteers must sign a volunteer service agreement form (if younger than 18, it must be signed by a parent or guardian) found at www.fws.gov/ridgefieldrefuges/ridgefield/getinvolved.html.
