County plants seedlings at Camp Bonneville

Clark County — Clark County Environmental Services oversaw the planting of about 2,500 seedlings this winter at Camp Bonneville. Douglas fir and western red cedar seedlings were planted in areas of the former military base that had been selectively thinned. The work was done in accordance with the Camp Bonneville Forest Stewardship Plan. “Not much forest management was done at Camp Bonneville in more than 30 years,” said Environmental Services Director Don Benton in a release sent out by the county. “By following our certified stewardship plan, we are slowly creating a healthier ecosystem.”
