Three Washington Timbers under-15 boys soccer teams reached the championship match of state cup tournaments before losing on Sunday in their final matches.

The teams played semifinal matches on Saturday and finals on Sunday at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.

In the Virginia Mason U.S. Youth Soccer Washington State Championship Cup, Crossfire Premier of Redmond beat Washington Timbers Red 5-1 to earn a spot in the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regionals. The Championship Cup is the top state tournament, for the most competitive teams.

Timbers Red scored first in the championship match, but the top team in Washington responded to lead 4-1 by halftime. Bishop Washington scored the opening goal for the Timbers, taking a cross from an overlapping Michael Kimbrell and taking a shot that caught the inside of the post for a 1-0 lead 15 minutes into the match.

It was the only goal scored against Crossfire Premier in its five tournament games. The lead stood for about 10 minutes before Crossfire Premier equalized.

In Saturday’s Championship Cup semifinal, Washington Timbers Red outscored Tukwila-based Pacific Northwest Maroon 3-1. Alan Gayton scored twice and Washington had a goal in the win. Assists were provided by Luke Davidson, Ryan Connop and Josh Tkachenko.

In the Presidents Cup, Washington Timbers Green finished second in Division 1 and Washington Timbers Forest took second in Division 2. Formerly called the Challenge Cup, this is the second-level state tournament for competitive youth soccer teams.

Timbers Green beat Seattle United Tango B 2-1 in overtime in the semifinal match to reach the finals for the Presidents Cup Division 1 tournament. Quinten Petcu scored the winner in overtime after Alex Neva tied the match in regulation. Levan Zhividze assisted on both goals.

In the finals, Washington Premier FC White prevailed 2-1.

In the Presidents Cup Division 2 semifinals, Timbers Forest beat Washington Rush A 3-0. JD Dembowski scored twice and Spencer Clark once. Josh Schneider had two assists and Tanner Thorson one assist. In the finals, Timbers Forest lost 1-0 to Whatcom FC Blue.
