Prairie fought its way back, forced two overtimes, but had its season end against Peninsula in the loser-out game of the 3A bi-district tournament at Clover Park High School.
JaQuori McLaughlin scored 20 points and had the steal and go-ahead basket for Peninsula in the closing seconds of the second overtime.
Prairie (10-15) had an out-of-bounds play with 8 seconds play. Prairie coach Kyle Brooks said his team had a “great look” at a 3-pointer, but the ball went in and out and eventually went out of bounds to Peninsula with 1 seconds on the clock.
Prairie came back from down 12-2 after the first quarter to trail 19-17 at halftime. It went back and forth from there.
“I’ve never been associated with a better Prairie game,” Brooks said. “It just came down to them having one more possession. It’s a tough way to end the season.”
Greg Bernash had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Falcons. Seth Hall led in points with 16, and Palmer Goecke had six points, five steals, four rebounds and two assists to go with some solid defense.
