Nate Moring became a scoring machine at the perfect time Thursday, and the Battle Ground Tigers have survived to play another game.

Morning scored 13 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter, leading Battle Ground’s rally in the consolation semifinals of the Class 4A District 4 boys basketball tournament.

Battle Ground will travel to Camas to face the Papermakers at 8 p.m. Friday for second place. The winner of that game will advance to the Class 4A state tournament round of 16. The loser will see its season end.

Devin Johnson, Andrej Besara, and Rennie Mendoza each scored 12 points for the Tigers, who trailed by four at the half and by a point going into the fourth quarter.

Evergreen’s Tyus Hosley scored 22 points.

Robert Franks, in his last high school game before heading to Washington State, had 13 points, six assists, and seven rebounds. Franks is a McDonald’s All-America candidate as well as a candidate for Gatorade state player of the year.

Jordan Henderson had a double-double for Evergreen with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
