Prairie 53, Auburn Riverside 46 — Making their third trip to the Puget Sound area in six days, the Falcons stayed alive in the 3A boys bi-district tournament.

Greg Bernash scored 21 points for Prairie, which must win twice more to reach the state playoffs. The next test comes Thursday in Lakewood against Peninsula.

Prairie coach Kyle Brooks said defense was the key Tuesday.

“This is our fourth game in a row allowing under 50,” he said. “One of our goals was to have a quarter where we allowed single-digit points.”

Indeed, Prairie only allowed eight points in the third quarter, which ended with the Falcons up 39-31. Auburn Riverside would get within three points, but couldn’t catch the Falcons.
