Battle Ground first-graders celebrate 100th day of school year

Battle Ground — Captain Strong Primary School first-graders got a glimpse into their future last week, as they celebrated the 100th day of the school year by dressing as 100-year-olds. For some students, that meant sweater vests, canes, suspenders and thick, fake mustaches. It’s something first-grade students celebrate every year at the school, according to Vice Principal Jennifer Kerr. She said the students spend the day doing activities that relate to the number 100. The students stacked 100 cups, completed a 100-piece puzzle and did 10 exercises 10 times each. Some students also brought in collections of 100 items, such as pennies. It wasn’t just the students who got into the numerical theme of the day: First-grade teacher Courtney Sullivan braided the number 100 into her hair.
