Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council. For information on the following and other opportunities, call 360-735-3683.

• City of Vancouver Parks and Recreation is looking for front-desk help at Firstenburg Community Center. Scanners are also needed to check patrons’ passes.

• City of Vancouver Water Resources Education Center seeks help at Second Saturday and other events. Garden and wetland help is also needed year-round.

• Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors is looking for volunteers to help with counseling, clerical support, outreach, public speaking and projects. Training is provided.

The Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership is looking for 40 participants to plant trees from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Washougal. All ages are welcome. Students can earn community service hours for participating. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Registration required: www.estuarypartnership.org/get-involved/volunteering

Friends of Trees, a Portland-based nonprofit group, seeks help planting trees 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in West Vancouver neighborhoods. Participants should wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. Gloves, tools and snacks will be provided beginning at 8:45 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, 426 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Vancouver. Clark Public Utilities Stream Team seeks volunteers to plant trees from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Brush Prairie. Bring rain boots and gloves, if available. Training, snacks and other supplies provided. Register: 360-992-8585.

Ridgefield seeks volunteers from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday for Community Service Day. Pizza for volunteers is available at noon at the community center, 210 N. Main Ave., Ridgefield. The volunteer fair is from 1 to 3 p.m. For information, call Jessica Kipp, 360-887-3557.
