For the third game in a row, Prairie held an opponent to a season low in points as the Falcons extended their season with the win over Sumner in the 3A bi-district loser-out game at Clover Park.

A strong second half did it for Prairie.

The Falcons (10-13) gave up nine offensive rebounds in the first half that led to points and Sumner hit nearly a halfcourt shot at the buzzer to take a 24-23 lead into the lockerroom.

“The big thing was we rebounded in the second half,” Prairie coach Kyle Brooks said.

Greg Bernash, who had just one rebound in the first half, pulled down 10 in the second half to go with his 14 points.

Ahead by two with about two minutes to play, Palmer Goecke made a 3-pointer, and free throws by Michael Stockbridge, Bernash and Goecke helped seal the win.

Prairie advances to another loser-out game on Tuesday, taking on Auburn Riverside at 6 p.m. at Clover Park. The Falcons need three wins to earn a berth to 3A state.
