After the latest vote count from this week’s special election, multimillion-dollar construction bond measures for the Washougal and Hockinson school districts are passing, with few ballots left to process.

On Thursday morning, the Clark County Elections Department released figures showing each measure surpassing the necessary 60 percent approval rate.

Proposition 5, a $57.7 million proposal for Washougal schools, had 60.69 percent approval. And Proposition 1, a $39.9 million measure for Hockinson schools, had 61.95 percent approval.

The money would finance the construction of several buildings to replace aging facilities that no longer comply with safety standards. It’ll also be put toward building athletic fields, and rooms for wrestling teams and music students in the Hockinson School District.

So far, officials have processed more than 7,000 ballots between Clark and Skamania counties. They estimate there are only about 150 left to count in Clark County. The final count will be certified on Feb. 24.
