MOSCOW, Idaho — Senior guard Connor Hill hit eight 3-pointers, tying his career best, and scored 28 points Thursday night and Idaho rallied to beat Portland State 87-76 with a big second half.
Mike Scott scored 14 points and had nine assists and two steals for the Vandals (10-12, 5-6 Big Sky Conference), who outscored the Vikings 57-44 in the second half and made 11 of 17 from long distance (64.7 percent).
Idaho used a 16-2 run capped by a 3-pointer by Perrion Callandret to lead 18-6, but Portland State ripped a 9-2 run and led 32-30 at halftime behind Gary Winston’s 12 points.
Idaho took a 34-32 lead early in the second half on a dunk by Paulin Mpawe, then pulled away. Hill hit his fourth 3-pointer of the half for a 72-54 Vandals lead with 4:33 left.
Winston led the Vikings (11-11, 5-7) with 23 points, Tiegbe Bamba had 18 and DaShaun Wiggins 13.
