Chinook Trail Association annual meeting set for Sunday

The Columbian
Published: February 11, 2015, 4:00pm

A program on through-hiking the route of the proposed Chinook trail circling the Columbia River Gorge will be presented Sunday in Vancouver at the annual meeting of the Chinook Trail Association.

The non-profit group will meet beginning at noon at the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S. E. Columbia Way.

Featured speakers will be Whitney La Ruffa, Brian Boshart and Liz Thomas, who hiked 290 miles in late June and July 2014 on trails and roads from Moulton Falls County Park to the Highway 97 Bridge and back on the Oregon side to Angels Rest.

The Chinook Trail is a proposed loop around the Gorge. Portions of the trail exist, but must be connected by walking on roads and cross-country.

To register for a meal at the event, call 360-993-0040. The public is welcome to attend the program.
