Letter: Abdullah’s declaration admirable

The Columbian
Published: February 10, 2015, 4:00pm

I don’t know all that much about King Abdullah of Jordan, but the last few days led me to think that:

1) He believes his country and its citizens are worth defending.

2) He doesn’t think that appeasing vicious murderers is the path to peace.

3) It would not occur to him to defend terrorists by invoking sins committed by others a thousand years ago.

4) He doesn’t think that punishing barbaric behavior is to get on our “high horse.”

5) He doesn’t make hollow threats.

Oh yeah, and he respects his military. I hope that someday our country will again have a leader who shares at least a couple of those traits.
