Battle Ground — Jan Solberg’s third-graders at Glenwood Heights Primary School came in second at the Children’s Holiday Art Contest at Portland International Raceway’s Winter Wonderland light display this holiday season.

The class’ mural featured 11 snowmen partaking in winter activities, such as sledding and making snow angels.

The mural also had a large Christmas tree and Santa and his reindeer flying high above. With the second-place finish, out of 18 total entries, Solberg’s class earned Glenwood Heights a $500 grant for the school’s visual arts program.

Glenwood Heights art specialist Cheryl Feucht worked with the students on their mural in art class and during recess.
