Girls basketball: Woodland 53, Hockinson 33

Hockinson’s defense held Woodland scoreless for nearly 10 minutes in the second half before Woodland pulled away.

Sidra Malik scored 14 points and was 9 of 12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. Jessica Flanagan had 13 points, nine rebounds and seven steals for the Beavers, who wrapped up the No. 2 seed from the 2A Greater St. Helens League.

Woodland will host Centralia at 7 p.m. Friday to start the district playoffs.

Payton Wangler led Hockinson in scoring with 13 points, but the Hawks were hurt by making just 17 percent of their shots from the field.
