Prep wrestling: Washougal grabs pair of sub-regional titles

AJ Christianson and Ruben Aguilar claimed individual titles to lead host Washougal to the team title at the 2A sub-regional tournament on Saturday.

Washougal outpaced R.A. Long 278-230.5 for team honors. Woodland was third at 182.

Christianson won the 138-pound title, and Aguilar captured the 195-pound crown.

Other individual champions included Dale Anderson (106) and Cameron Loos (220) of Hockinson, Trevor Newburn (113), Josh Sokolowski (160) and Vanea McDaniel (170) of Ridgefield, Darion Greene (132) of Hudson’s Bay and Josh Pratt (126), Nathan Patterson (145) and Isaac Andersen (285) of Woodland.

Tolen, Van Pelt win 1A sub-regional titles — La Center’s Derick Tolen and Stevenson’s Colton Van Pelt capture individuals title at the 1A sub-regional tournament at Castle Rock.

Castle Rock won the team title with 354.5 points. La Center was fourth (122.5), Stevenson fifth (102) and King’s Way Christian sixth (23).

Tolen captured the 126-pound division title. Van Pelt won at 160 pounds.

Washougal girls win title — Yaneli Martinez, Jessica Eakins and Abby Lees won individual titles as Washougal won the team title at the girls sub-regional tournament at Washougal.

Washougal scored 186.5 points to outpace Kalama (123). Skyview was fourth with 90. Martinez won the 100-pound division, Eakins paced the 106-pound class, while Lees captured the 155-pound division.

Other winners included Sierra Jones of Battle Ground at 115, Skyview’s Caitlin Horrocks at 120 and Natasha Williams at 130.
