SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Mikh McKinney scored 10 of his 17 points in the second half to help Sacramento State hang on Saturday for a 64-60 win over Portland State.
Dylan Garrity added 16 points for Sacramento State (16-6, 10-1 Big Sky), which is off to its best start since moving to Division I in 1991. The Hornets shot 48.1 percent, including 6 of 10 from beyond the arc, to win their seventh straight.
Portland State (11-10, 5-6), which trailed by nine at the break, opened the second with a 12-2 run that included a 3-pointer from DaShaun Wiggins to take a 38-35 lead with 15:55 left. The Hornets stayed close, tying it at 42, 44, 46 and 48 before retaking the lead for good with Alex Tiffin’s bucket with 9:01 remaining and hanging on down the stretch.
Braxton Tucker led Portland State with 18 points, Tiegbe Bamba added 13 and Wiggins 10.
