The visiting Panthers rallied to within six points in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t overcome a huge second period for the league champion Monarchs.
Mark Morris outscored Washougal 29-12 in the second quarter, with a flurry of 3-pointers helping the Monarchs lead by 21 points at halftime. Trailing by 22 at the end of three quarters, the Panthers rallied in the fourth period to as close as six points with just more than two minutes on the clock.
“I’m happy that we answered like that,” Washougal coach Brian Oberg said. “The girls gave it all they had.”
Alyssa Blankenship scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds and RaeAnn Allen scored 16 points and had eight rebounds for Washougal (13-5, 7-4 GSHL).
