Clark County — Angel and Michael Kuehl were heading into their local Fred Meyer when they noticed a penny on the ground, so they picked it up and used it on an “All About The Bens” scratch-off ticket.

The newly acquired penny turned out to be a lucky one, as the Kuehls won $200,000. The Kuehls, who have been married for 30 years, were shocked.

“At first we thought it was a $200 win,” they said in a press release sent out through Washington’s Lottery. “Then we saw a comma and we couldn’t believe it. When we told our kids what we won, they started crying happy tears.”

The couple said they would most likely use some of the money to finish paying off their house, and after that, go on the honeymoon they never had.

They also said they play the lottery regularly, and have won some small amounts, but a few things were different about this time besides the large payout.

“The ticket we usually buy was sold out,” they said in the release. “With our lucky penny, and this new ticket, it’s meant to be.”
