Battle Ground — Prairie High School senior Nicole Howell won first place in the Entrepreneurial Project Individual at the DECA district championships Jan. 14 in Longview.

For her project, Howell had to write an 11-page business plan, create a poster board detailing her plan, give a 20-minute presentation on it and have a SWOT analysis on her business’ strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

She also had to include financials and projections for her business, which is a consignment store. It was Howell’s first time competing in this sort of competition, and she was the only representative from Prairie.

Next up, Howell is off to the state championship, taking place March 5-7 in Bellevue.
