DECA COMPETITION

Nicole Howell, a senior on Prairie High School’s DECA team, won first place for Entrepreneurial Project Individual at the DECA district championships on Jan. 14 in Longview. She will advance to the state championship in March in Bellevue. For her entry, Howell wrote a detailed business plan. DECA is a career and technical student organization based in Reston, Va.

SENATE PAGE PROGRAM

Kayla Ramsay, a sophomore at Academy Northwest, was recently a Senate page for a week in Olympia. Ramsay was sponsored by state Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center. She is the daughter of Liisa Ramsay, of Battle Ground, and Dave Ramsay of Vancouver.
