The Falcons fell short in the final of the Phoenix Cactus Jam in Arizona.

Prairie senior Cherita Daugherty had 17 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and was named to the all-tournament team. But the Falcons were overmatched by their opponent from Potomac, Md.

“They passed the ball really well,” Prairie coach Brett Johnson said. “Our fundamental defense wasn’t there and we couldn’t get enough rebounds.”

Holy Child made 20 of 28 free throws while Prairie went to the line just 11 times.

Prairie (6-3) finished the three-day tournament 2-1. Johnson said it was a good tuneup ahead of the 3A Greater St. Helens League season.

“It’s what we needed,” he said.
