Girls basketball: Prairie 60, Monsignor McCoy (Alberta) 22

The Falcons defense was in fine form, forcing 29 turnovers and holding their opponent from Alberta to single-digit scoring in all four quarters to win the first round game at the Phoenix Cactus Jam.

Grace Prom’s 14 points led a balanced scoring effort for Prairie. Cherita Daugherty had eight steals and Mallory Williams had eight rebounds.

Prairie advances to play Lathrop, Alaska, at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in the semifinals of the Cactus Division bracket.
