Pedestrian killed on St. Johns Blvd.

Man apparently stepped into traffic

A pedestrian died on Christmas Eve when he stepped in front of a moving vehicle in Vancouver.

The collision occurred about 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Northeast St. Johns Road and Northeast 40th Avenue.

According to a news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, an adult male believed to be in his mid-30s stepped in front of a southbound vehicle. He died at the scene.

The occupants of the vehicle, two adults and an infant, were not injured. The driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with police.

The dead man’s name was not immediately released, pending notification of his family.

The accident is being investigated by the sheriff’s traffic unit.
