A fire likely totaled an older-model Ford Explorer in a garage in the Mount Vista area on Wednesday evening, but firefighters were able to keep flames from spreading to the house, or to much of the garage.

Firefighters were called to a fire at 13607 N.E. 26th Court, east of Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center, shortly after 5 p.m. to a report of a vehicle on fire in an attached three-car garage.

Clark County Fire District 6 Battalion Chief Larry Reese said firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the Explorer, and the damage to the structure was relatively minor. He said he doubted the Ford would be drivable.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the fire’s cause, Reese said.
