The cause of death for a man whose body was found in a Hazel Dell motel last week remains undetermined pending a toxicology report, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Detectives say that the death of Christopher Feil, 41, of Portland is suspicious, but that they won’t know what kind of investigation they have until the medical examiner makes a ruling, Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Sgt. Todd Barsness said.

Feil’s body was found in the Kay’s Motel, 6700 N.E. Highway 99, on Dec. 16, according to the sheriff’s office.

Barsness said there is no threat to the public.

“It’s an unusual investigation, and that’s why we’re not releasing a ton of information about it,” he said. “We’re still putting some of those pieces together.”
