Firefighters stopped a garage fire from spreading to the rest of a home just south of Whipple Creek on Monday morning.

Crews from Clark County Fire & Rescue and Clark County Fire District 6 responded to the blaze at 20507 N.E. 10th Ave. just after 8 a.m., Clark County Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Dawdy said.

Arriving firefighters from Fire District 6 found a garage fire that was starting to spread to the rest of the house, Dawdy said.

“Fire was coming out of the garage door, out of the windows,” he said. “Fire District 6 did the initial hose attack and made the quick stop on the house. … They were able to confine the fire to the garage area of the house.”

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office and North Country Emergency Medical Services assisted with traffic control in the area.

Clark County Assistant Fire Marshal Richard Martin said the blaze started as an engine compartment fire in a car parked in the garage.

The fire caused an estimated $75,000 in damage to the structure and belongings inside it, Martin said.
