Volunteers collected 133 tons, or about 266,000 pounds, of food Dec. 5 during the Walk & Knock food drive. That’s about 16,000 pounds more than Justin Wood, president of Walk & Knock, expected to collect.
Walk & Knock is the largest annual food drive benefiting the Clark County Food Bank, which distributes the food to pantries around the county.
The drive also collected more than $14,000 in cash donations, Wood said.
Despite a recovering economy, local food pantries are filling a growing demand.
Walk & Knock helps the pantries stock up on shelf-stable foods.
