MOUNT HOOD, Ore. — Cooper Spur ski area opened for the season at noon today and will operate daily through Jan. 3.
All 50 acres of the ski area will be open, served by the Homestead chairlift and a beginner rope tow. Skiing and snowboarding will be open until 8 p.m.
Chairlift tickets costs $32 for adult and $28 for juniors ages 7 to 14 and seniors age 65 and older. Rental equipment is available and group lessons are offered daily with reservations.
A tubing tow is also scheduled to open this weekend. A four-hour tube shift is $12 and includes the tube.
The nordic center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with 3.7 miles of set track for skating or traditional striding. There also is a snowshoe trail.
The trail fee is $15 for adults and $10 for juniors ages 12 and younger and seniors.
Cross-country ski equipment and snowshoes can be rented at the nordic center.
Cooper Spur’s regular schedule is noon to 8 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The area also will be open Martin Luther King Day (Jan. 18), Presidents Day (Feb. 15) and Oregon’s spring break (March 21-24).
The final day of the Cooper Spur season will be March 27.
