A strong effort on the offensive glass helped the host Titans topple the Papermakers.
Denis Kirichenko grabbed a program-record 19 rebounds — nine of them on the offensive end — helping Union outrebound Camas 47-19 according to the Titans’ statistics.
Camas (0-6, 0-2) led by four points after the first quarter. Union (5-1, 2-0) gained momentum in the second quarter, outscoring Camas by 10.
“We really hit the offensive boards and started to wear them down a little bit,” Union coach Blake Conley said.
Cameron Cranston led Union with 22 points and also blocked four shots. Tyler Combs hit three 3-pointers in the second half to help the Titans stretch the lead. Combs finished with 14 points, Nico Bricker scored 11 and Kirichenko 10.
